Turning Seasons

2 Mar

The weather in southern Spain right now is absolutely gorgeous.  It feels like we skipped Spring and went straight into Summer.  I definitely think it’s time to go laze about in the sunshine, but first I wanted to post this poem that for me perfectly expresses my wonder in the turning of the seasons.  Hope you all are having as nice weather as I am!

Turning Seasons (The Warring Seasons)

The prancing of Spring’s step,
Dancing on newly-risen grass,
Flowers unfurling in her wake,
Winter banished by this golden lass.

Summer enters on her galloping steed,
She battles with a glaring heat,
The burning sun, her herald,
Spring conquered, lying at her feet.

Autumn sedately strolls,
Burnished leaves wave on the trees,
Her russet cloak whips in the wind,
Autumn lashing as Summer flees.

Bitter Winter strikes the earth,
Her icy touch burning,
Autumn frozen by her kiss,
Until Spring returns ever-enduring.
