This poem is without a doubt (or without much of one) my favorite poem that I have written. The lines have such pleasant rhythm and melody, a wonderful cadence, and yet still maintain their integrity of metaphor.
Oh, Sweet Sanity, why have you left me to the harsh ministrations of Delirium?
Why not the tender mercies of Insanity?
Or the solemn gravity of Death?
At least I have not been abandoned to the crazed ravings of Desire.
Nor to the gloomy foreshadowing of Despair.
I am perhaps to be restored to the hallowed halls in the land of Dreams.
